A Costa Rica Engagement Session

One of the best parts of my career is the opportunity to travel so frequently and shoot destination weddings in gorgeous locations. While the winters might be cold in Canada, as a destination wedding photographer, I have the chance to spend a nice chunk of my winter’s in gorgeous, sunny locations, like Mexico, Cuba, and Costa Rica! I love getting to explore new cultures and parts of the world, and it’s so fun to shoot on beautiful beaches while there’s sand between my toes!

This February, I was able to head to Costa Rica and had the chance to photograph some gorgeous shoots! For those of you who have never been, Costa Rica is all about the “pura vida,” which means pure life {may have gotten it tattooed while I was there!}. People say the phrase to you wherever you go, and it’s all part of the amazing energy of the country! I quickly found out that photographing Costa Rica weddings is just the same—full of relaxed energy and natural beauty, and love of course!

It was amazing to be able to photograph such a beautiful and in-love couple during sunset on a gorgeous beach. They looked perfect in their relaxed-but-elegant attire, and we had a blast walking along the beach, photographing on the dark lava rocks, and capturing them snuggling inside the floral mandala.

The Tamarindo, Costa Rica wedding shoot started at a quaint bed and breakfast on the beach, which was the perfect home for a beautiful elopement tablescape (full of wild florals, candles, and glass bottles), and the details fit everything so well. I loved the beachy invitation suites, classic jewelry, and classy Badgley Mischka wedding sandals. And the cake was a perfect combination of elegant and organic vibes, with lots of interesting shapes woven into the bottom tier and fresh jungle greenery all around it! I also loved the bride’s custom gown.

While I absolutely love my local weddings in Ottawa, I cannot wait to see what my 2018 destination wedding brings and what adventurous weddings I’ll have the chance to photograph!
