Allison + Josh Engagements | Mac Johnson Wildlife Area, Ontario

A Fall Engagement

The past year brought a lot of adjustments and readjustments with wedding plans due to the pandemic, which meant a lot of scheduling and rescheduling for me too as an Ottawa wedding photographer. Fortunately, my clients all took it in stride. Allison and Josh are perfect examples of this! Despite having to change their wedding date, we took advantage of the extra time and captured these stunning Brockville engagement photos in the fall!

I really enjoyed having the opportunity to get to know Allison and Josh—especially since we share so much in common. Lovers of both coffee and sangria (a couple after my own heart!), these two met in 2015 when they were set up on a blind date by Allison’s sister and brother-in-law. Both Josh and her brother-in-law work at the fire department in Brockville. Josh and Allison went out for coffee on their first date and have been attached at the hip ever since!

They have already established such an impressive life together; they are living in the second home that they have purchased together, and they welcomed a fur baby named Max into their family as well. Josh proposed in September 2019 while they were visiting one of their favorite places, Italy. He proposed in the most idyllic fashion—at sunset at a park overlooking Florence!

There are so many things to love about this Brockville engagement photo session! I am particularly picky about location in the autumn when I want to show off the beautiful foliage, and the Mac Johnson Wildlife Area in Brockville was an absolute hidden gem. It was my first time shooting in the area and absolutely won’t be my last! I am eager to get back. The images by the water are some of my favorites; I love shooting near water in the fall because the blues are so much deeper and are perfectly complimented by the vibrant leaves. The backdrop for this Brockville engagement session was so quiet and peaceful with hidden trails, spacious fields, and calming water.

And of course, Josh and Allison were such a delight to photograph! They were so comfortable in front of the lens and made it look so effortless. I loved capturing their sweet love and snuggles, as well as a few frames of Max!

Allison and Josh are huge fan of the warmer summer months, and they have been looking forward to their wedding for quite some time after postponing from 2020 to this year. I cannot wait to celebrate with them and capture them sharing vows at their cozy family cottage next month!
