Amanda + Garth

Meet this incredible couple, Amanda + Garth. These two met in North Augusta 10 years ago and became fast friends after Amanda threw mud at Garth after they’re first ‘hello’. I can’t think of a better way to start a relationship!

Garth had made Amanda a really sentimental heart ring and gave it to her during a sweet moment in their kitchen. He later proposed to Amanda at that same meaningful spot in their kitchen. It shocked Amanda so much she knocked the engagement ring right out of his hand! These two love to do everything together but their favourite past-time is going to drive-in movies in Port Elmsley, where they shared their first real date! (cue perfect location for a snuggly engagement shoot too!)

Their engagements took place at Garth’s moms’ house in Smith Falls, Ontario. I cannot believe this is where Garth got to grow up. This backyard is giant and a photographer’s dream!

A fun surprise during the shoot was Amanda and Garth had a rustic truck set in the backfield as well as a vintage couch set to take photos with and pop champagne on. Then their big fluffy puppers Moose made an appearance, going in and out of the shots as he pleased! I loved Amanda’s formal dusty gown and her amazing bridal makeup done with Makeup by Teri Leigh!

Garth is a paraplegic and they brought his standup chair for a mix of photos! That was a really special moment to be able to photograph between the two of them. After they received their gallery, Amanda sent me this message: ‘It's the first time anyone else except for me has seen Garth in his standup chair so it's very special to see. It was also the third time I got to see him in it so I can't even explain how nice it was to just even hug him. I cried the first two times I saw him in it so I'm glad I was able to hold it together.”

This sweet message from Amanda stopped me in my tracks and reminded me again that my job is so much more than just taking photos of people. I am capturing memories. I am capturing love. I am capturing the most important moments of people’s lives and I am so honoured to do so!

Looking forward to celebrating at Stonefields Estate this October!
