Courtney + Rudy Engagements || Pinhey’s Point, Dunrobin Ontario

Courtney + Rudy

Even after a decade as an Ottawa wedding photographer, I am still blown away with the way in which a photo session can perfectly capture the essence of a couple. From their personality to their energy to their love, it is so fun to see how Ottawa engagement sessions really capture a pair of soon-to-be newlyweds. And this is definitely the case with Courtney and Rudy! Their Pinhey’s Point engagement session in Ontario is bursting with love and laid-back, happy vibes.

Rudy and Courtney met the summer after high school through some mutual friends. Their relationship started in the best way; they naturally grew to become close as friends. This all changed one night when Rudy asked Courtney to grab some coffee, just the two of them. She said this took her completely by surprise! Their relationship took off from there! Everything between them unfolded naturally, and ten years later, they agree that they couldn’t be happier that they took the risk to go from being “just friends” to dating!

As I am working with a couple to photograph their Ottawa weddings, I love having the opportunity to get to know more about not only their relationship but the proposal, too! Courtney and Rudy shared details of their intimate and cozy proposal during this Pinhey’s Point engagement session.

In December 2019, Rudy again took the relationship to the next level and proposed! Courtney returned home from work, and Rudy led her upstairs. He set up string lights throughout the hallway with various photographs of the two of them, all throughout their years together. Courtney then began to suspect something was up. The hallway led to their bedroom, and once she arrived in their room, the door was closed with a sign that said “forever” on it. The proposal was sweet and sentimental— just the two of them. Courtney expressed how she loved that it took place at home and how it was so fitting for their personality.

We met up in July at the beautiful Pinhey’s Point in Dunrobin, Ontario for this engagement session, and it couldn’t have gone better! We had perfect weather, and these two were so wonderful to work with! You can just feel their joyous energy and excitement for their future together through their smiles. We kept things casual and romantic, with strolls down by the water and a picnic of rosé. And of course, we couldn’t get enough of that perfect golden hour light! I became even more excited for their winter wedding after getting to know them during this dreamy Ontario engagement session, and I can’t wait to share their wedding photos with you too!
