Marlee + Mark Engagements | Beryl Gaffney Park, Ottawa

Marlee and Mark

Between engagements, holiday portrait sessions, and weddings, my fall seasons are always packed as an Ottawa engagement photographer. Autumn is one of the most-requested times for photo sessions here in Ottawa, and after looking at this Barrhaven engagement session, it is easy to see why!

Marlee and Mark’s Ottawa engagement session encompassed everything beautiful about fall: deep colours, soft lighting, and cozy outfits. The couple dated for seven years before getting engaged, and we wanted to showcase the lovely life that they had created together. A large part of this life includes their fur baby, Alfie. So including Alfie in the shoot was absolutely essential! We chose this spot in Barrhaven as the backdrop for their Ottawa engagement session because it’s not only stunning, it is wide open and very dog-friendly. Alfie stole the show with his playful nature, cuddles, and bright smile. The location also has significance to the couple because they love visiting with their dog.

Marlee was on-the-ball with wedding planning and scheduled their Ottawa engagement photography immediately! The pair had gotten engaged just a few weeks prior when Mark proposed at a quaint cottage. They were vacationing to celebrate her 30th birthday; while she knew a proposal was coming eventually since they dated for so long, the actual event was a complete surprise! She was shocked in the best way. I loved being able to capture their engagement photos so soon after the actual proposal because there was so much excitement in the air! And after spending the evening with them, their affection for one another is so apparent. It’s clear that these two self-described “goofballs” are the best of friends.

We truly had the most wonderful time together! Marlee and Mark trusted me fully and were so relaxed, which made for these effortlessly romantic engagement photos in Ottawa. Alfie helped bring the chill vibes and kept everyone laughing. I couldn’t believe how many of his adorable smiles we captured! The couple simply allowed themselves to go with the flow the entire session, which made for the best images.  I love how these photos show off their sweet love and the incredible fall foliage. The photos really pay tribute to their seven-year history and are an indicator of an amazing future together. I am grateful to have captured a portion of their story and cannot wait to see what the future holds for these three!
