Mikayla + Chris Engagements || Grass Creek Park, Kingston Ontario

Mikayla + Chris

There is just something about young love that feels so fresh and romantic, and capturing young love is such a fun part of my job as an Ottawa wedding photographer. It is so fun to help couples feel comfortable and express their love for each other— all in stunning backdrops! And Mikayla and Chris’ Grass Creek Park engagement session really epitomizes the romance and whimsy of young love perfectly.

This sweet couple met nearly a decade ago when they were still in high school! And their story is truly something out of a romance novel. After being introduced by a mutual friend, they quickly became inseparable. But they attended high schools on opposite sides of the city, so they couldn’t see each other often without their parents driving them across town. So Chris would bike all the way across the city, just to spend time with Mikayla! They attended colleges in different cities and became officially long distance, but they have held on and are finally both living in Kingston! Chris proposed while they were on a trip out West together. He got down on one knee on top of a mountain in Banff, which was absolutely breathtaking! Soon enough, they will be married and see each other all of the time.

We wanted to showcase how much of a celebration it is that they can finally be together all of the time, so we chose the stunning backdrop of Grass Creek Park for their engagement session. We wanted these two nature lovers to feel at home for their Kingston, Ontario engagement session, so we spent the evening strolling through fields, walking along the beach, and playing in the water. They brought their darling mini Goldendoodle, Milo, along for the session, too! We had the best time popping the champagne and enjoying the warm weather together. I loved the whole experience and cannot wait to work with them again at their wedding!

And if their love story is something out of a romance novel, any one of these Ontario engagement photos could be on the cover!
