Romantic + Fun Baseball-Inspired Engagement Session

One of the best parts of my job is getting to celebrate couples’ love and personalities in different ways. After shooting over a hundred weddings as an Ottawa wedding photographer, it’s been so fun to see how a couple works together and see their interests and style come through! An engagement session is the best way for me to get inspired and get a grasp on this (one of the many reasons why engagement sessions are worth it! Hint, hint!) I’m constantly surprised by my couples, and it’s one of the best ways for me to get to know a couple before their wedding day.

Jenny + Wes’ Ottawa engagement session is a great example of this. Wes is a big-time baseball fan; he played in college, so it only seemed natural to do part of their engagement session at a baseball diamond! We photographed the first part of the shoot at Raymond Chabot Grant Thortan Park, home of the Ottawa Champions, and it was amazing to have the place to ourselves and capture both Wes’ love for Jenny and his love for baseball!

I loved how their outfits were perfect compliments for the theme, as well! Jenny looked amazing; she was done up by the incredible Top Knot and Klava Zykova- Makeup Artist and Educator, with the freshest makeup and gorgeous loose curls. And Wes looked dapper in his baseball cap! We transitioned from the baseball stadium to the arboretum, where they dressed up for a bit more romantic of a shoot. I loved Jenny’s flowy, floral print dress and the ethereal vibes it brought to the session. The combination of shooting both in a more casual and relaxed environment and in a romantic setting was absolutely perfect for these two, and the session as a whole came together so well!

We had such a fun evening together, and it was so easy to capture their love for one another and natural affection. I’m so excited for their 2018 Le Belvedere wedding in Quebec!
