Bright and Blossom-Filled Ottawa Anniversary Session!

There’s something so incredible about spring: the renewal of life and energy, the improved temperatures, the excitement for summer, and can we talk for a second about the blossoms?! As an Ottawa wedding photographer, I always look forward to spring after these nasty Canadian winters. Not only does it mean I get to shoot without wearing boots and thick socks, it also means that there’s going to be beautiful nature to pose my clients in and that all of the excitement of the start of wedding season is around!

I was lucky enough to share a warm spring evening with one of the sweetest couples to photograph their anniversary session! Allie and Nick are darling with the most apparent chemistry and brightest smiles. I met them only a year ago, but they’ve had seven photo sessions with me since we met! I feel so lucky to have returning clients—especially when they’re as lovely as these two!

Nick surprised Allie with this Ornamental Gardens couples session as a surprise for Allie’s birthday because he knew Allie’s favourite thing is getting all dressed up for photos; how sweet is that?! They were wed last August, but they’ll have photographs from all different stages in their relationship. After showing off the greenhouse at Experimental Farms in Ottowa, we headed to capture the blossoms at Ornamental Gardens, and I’m so glad that we did!

I love Allie’s bright and spring-y top, complimented by the gorgeous pink blossoms that surrounded them on the trees. I really think there’s nothing dreamier than a crazy-in-love couple surrounded by beautiful blooms. One of the reasons that I love working with these two is that it’s so easy to capture their emotions and love for one another without having to intrude or doing too much posing. I have to give these two so little direction; Nick just makes her smile all of the time! Can I get any luckier?!

This is one of my favorite spring sessions, and it makes me so excited for all of the other couples I’ll have the chance to work with during this 2017 wedding season! Enjoy!
